A template export can stay on the server. You download it from CDR export files, and the email carries a link. The archive is attached only when you ask for that and the file is under 10 MB.
If you run MOR or M4, CDR template export used to leave you with an email. A month of calls, or a wide template, produces an archive the mail server will not take. The job then skips the attachment, or the recipient gets an error mail and no file.
Keep on disk stores that archive and lists it. You open CDR export files and download it. The success email can include a download link. Attach the file itself only when Attach to email if under 10MB is on and the archive is under 10 MB.
On MOR, configure CDR Export Templates. On M4, the same settings sit under CDR Management and CDR Export Templates.
What it is and who it is for
On MOR it covers Last Calls export and Automatic CDR Export. On M4 it covers Calls List export and Automatic CDR Export. The CSV still uses the columns on the template you pick.
Use it when finance, a wholesale partner, or a reseller expects a file on a schedule and that file outgrows email. With Keep on disk on, the export still runs if email sending is off, and the file is listed.
Admin sees every stored archive they are allowed to manage. An accountant on MOR sees their own rows under STATISTICS → Calls → CDR export files. A manager on M4 sees their own files under REPORTS → Calls List → CDR export files. A user or reseller sees archives they were allowed to receive.
Why the 10 MB email cap drops the file
Without Keep on disk, the emailed archive has to stay under 10 MB. A larger MOR job skips the attachment. A larger M4 job is not sent, and the recipient gets an error email. Automatic export to FTP or SFTP can still move an oversize file, because that path uploads to the server you configured. Email cannot.
Keep on disk splits those two jobs. The server stores the archive. The email can carry download_url. The attachment is a second choice, and only under 10 MB.
On MOR, Keep on disk is on by default. The Last Calls Export button stays available when email sending is off, as long as Keep on disk is on. If both are off, the button is greyed out. On M4, Export is available when email is configured or when Keep on disk is enabled. Check MAINTENANCE → Settings, CDR Management tab, for the Keep on disk default before you rely on it.
How a stored export works
Last Calls / Calls List, or a scheduled Automatic task
→ CSV, then an archive
→ CDR export files (Generating, then Ready)
→ you download it
→ success email with a link
→ attachment only if Attach to email if under 10MB is on
and the archive is under 10 MB
On MOR Last Calls, with Keep on disk on, Export starts at once. A status line points at CDR export files. The keep and attach switches are not on the Last Calls page. They sit under SETTINGS → Setup → Settings → Calls.
On M4 Calls List, those switches are also off the list page. Calls List export uses the CDR Management tab. Each automatic task has its own keep and attach checkboxes, shown when Send CDR to is a user or a custom email. They are hidden for FTP and SFTP.
Each row shows when the file was created, the filename, and the size in MB to two decimal places. While MOR is still building the file, size stays blank and the filename shows Generating. M4 shows generating, ready, or failed. Download stays disabled until the file is ready.
Admin also sees the user, the last download, and the IP. Resend sends the success email again with the link and leaves the archive off that mail. Delete asks “Are you sure?” and stays disabled while the file is still generating.
The link in the success email opens a Ready file without a GUI login, until you delete the file or retention removes it. On MOR, a guessed numeric id returns not found, and so does a file that is still generating.
Admin list: created time, filename, and size. MOR leaves size blank while the file is generating.
A user gets that link only when the template is Suitable for User and the export is limited to that user’s calls, or to that reseller’s users. An admin export of every user still stores the file for admin and leaves that user off the link. On MOR, marking Suitable for User rejects columns the user does not already see on Last Calls, such as Profit, Provider Rate, or another tenant’s identity. The template is not saved.
Key capabilities
| Capability | What you get |
|---|---|
| Stored archive | The CSV archive stays on disk and appears under CDR export files. |
| Download link | The success email can include download_url. The link works until the file is deleted or retention removes it. |
| Attachment under 10 MB | Attach to email if under 10MB attaches the archive only when it is under 10 MB. The option stays disabled until Keep on disk is on. |
| Email off | With Keep on disk on, the export still runs and the file is listed. |
| FTP and SFTP | Those destinations still upload to the remote server. The keep and attach checkboxes are hidden there. M4 does not list those uploads under CDR export files. |
| Quota | Max size defaults to 5 GB (minimum 1). Deny refuses a new export when the quota is full or free disk space is under the threshold (default 10%, allowed 5-50). Drop oldest deletes the oldest archives to make room. |
| Retention | Files older than the configured days are removed. Minimum 7, default 30. |
| MOR API | Admin can list, show, and download Ready archives with API v2. Accountant and user tokens are refused. |
MOR API details are on MOR API v2 cdr export files. Admin calls GET /api/v2/cdr_export_files, GET /api/v2/cdr_export_files/{id}, and GET /api/v2/cdr_export_files/{id}/download with a Bearer token and the matching v2_cdr_export_files_* permission. JSON leaves out the email link. Download works for a Ready file. Any other status returns not found.
Getting started
- Confirm the database server that builds the export is one the GUI can read. On MOR that list is SETTINGS → Billing → Servers (DB enabled). On M4 it is MAINTENANCE → Servers. If the GUI has its own database server, select that server.
- Open the CDR export files settings. MOR: SETTINGS → Setup → Settings → Calls. M4: MAINTENANCE → Settings, CDR Management tab. Leave Keep on disk on. Set Max size (default 5 GB), Space policy, and Delete files older than (default 30 days, minimum 7).
- Turn on Attach to email if under 10MB only if a small file should also sit in the mail. A file over 10 MB stays on disk. The mail carries the link.
- Put
download_urlin the success email template if it is not already there. MOR uses Email variables on the CDR export success mail. M4 uses the same variable in M4 Emails. - Run one Last Calls export (MOR) or one Calls List export (M4) with a template. Open CDR export files. MOR: SETTINGS → Billing → CDR → Export → CDR export files. M4: BILLING → CDR → Export → CDR export files. Wait until the row is Ready, then download it.
- For a scheduled file, edit the automatic task. Keep and attach appear when the destination is a user or a custom email. Run one cycle and confirm the same list shows the archive.
Settings for the folder, the 5 GB default quota, Deny or Drop oldest, and the 30-day retention.
If a user or reseller should download their own file, mark the template Suitable for User and limit the query to that user (or that reseller’s users). Then check the file from their Calls → CDR export files menu, not from the admin list alone.
What’s next
Field labels, the column list, and the Suitable for User rule are on CDR Export Templates for MOR and on M4 CDR Export Templates for M4. Quota and retention for M4 are on M4 CDR Management.
After the first Ready file, pull the same archive from your own tooling with the MOR API above. M4’s stored-file list is the GUI page. This article does not describe an M4 equivalent of those three API calls.
FAQ
Does a file over 10 MB still arrive as an email attachment?
No. The attachment is sent only when Attach to email if under 10MB is on and the archive is under 10 MB. With Keep on disk on, the larger file stays on the server and the email can carry the download link. With Keep on disk off, a larger MOR job skips the attachment, and a larger M4 job sends an error email instead of the file.
Where do I turn Keep on disk on?
MOR: SETTINGS → Setup → Settings → Calls. It is on by default, and it is not a checkbox on Last Calls. M4 Calls List: MAINTENANCE → Settings, CDR Management tab. M4 automatic tasks: the task form, and only when Send CDR to is a user or a custom email.
Can a user download another customer’s CDRs from this list?
They get a link only when the template is Suitable for User and the export is limited to their own calls, or to their reseller’s users. An export of all users stores the file for admin and leaves that user off the link. On MOR, a template with admin-only columns such as Profit or Provider Rate is rejected when you mark it Suitable for User.
Do FTP and SFTP exports show up in CDR export files?
The keep and attach options are hidden for FTP and SFTP. Those jobs still upload the archive to the remote server. On M4, those uploads are not listed under CDR export files.
